Hawkeye Swing Festival 4
The Hawkeye Swing festival, organized by the U of I Swing Dance Club, is a dance weekend that is held every spring at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. The HSF is Iowa's first dance festival that features some of this country's finest instructors and the region's best social dancers. It is three days of swing dancing that includes classes for all levels, dances with live music, DJ's playing your favorite jazz and blues, and contests that highlight competitors from all across the region.
The Hawkeye Swing Festival welcomes dancers of all ages and ability levels. It is a time to make new friends and visit with old ones. Through classes, dances, and competitions we hope to continue to promote the swing dance scene in Iowa and throughout the Midwest. Please join us in April 17, 18 and 19th 2009 for our fourth year and experience the joy of swing dancing at the University of Iowa.
Thursday Night Swing Social
Continuing into 2008 join Step Into Swing every Thursday night at Java Joe's/Fourth Street Theater in downtown Des Moines for the Thursday Night Swing Social. From 8-10:30 you can dance to the best 20's to 50's swing and jazz music, practice or just socialize with other swing dancers. Located at 214 4th St. Des Moines, IA.
First Saturday Swing Dance
The first Saturday of every month is The First Saturday Swing Dance. Promoted by Step Into Swing. Held at the Des Moines Ballroom Dance Studio, 2745 Douglas, Des Moines. We play all your favorite tunes from the 30's to the 50's and then some. Next dance is Saturday May 3rd!
Jitterbugs' Night Out is held upstairs at the Eagles Lodge on 24th & Douglas in Omaha, every Friday night! Doors open at 7:30, and then the evening starts at 8:00 p.m. with a beginning swing dance lesson (no partner required). The DJ spins their tunes until midnight. This event is smoke-free, alcohol-free, and all ages. Alcohol is available from the bar downstairs. Dressing sharp is strongly encouraged, as is bathing. Come on out and see what's got people talking.

Jive Junction is the third Friday of every month. Swing Des Moines’ monthly swing dance. DJ Randy Reid plays music from the 20’s through the 50’s. at West Des Moines Community Center. 217 5th St., W. Des Moines, IA. 8-11
