Rae and Larry Mullica

Larry and Rae Mullica are favorites among the students in the Central Iowa Swing dance scene.  Known for their fun and energetic approach to teaching, they have inspired many new Hepcats to continue their education about the Swing dance culture.  Their history in partner dancing spans 25 years and began when Disco and the Hustle were all the rage.  They have developed a passion for Swing that is demonstrated by their on-going pursuit to spread Swing awareness across the State of Iowa. In the spring of 2007, Larry and Rae founded the organization Step Into Swing.  Since the organization's inception, the Mullicas have established a monthly dance, formed three dance troupes, and have developed a swing education program that introduces Swing dancing to students of all ages. Recent accomplishments include taking first in the Fast Dance Competition at the 2006 Hawkeye Swing Festival and performing as featured dancers in the Des Moines Playhouse's 2006 production of the musical Swing! Michael Brafford and Eve Johnson

Michael and Eve’s love of swing dancing started during the "Swing Craze" of the late 90's. They have traveled all over the U.S. working with the nation's best instructors and make every effort to continue to grow as a dancers and teachers. Michael and Eve began dancing together as members of the UI Flying LindyHawks, the University of Iowa's competitive swing dance performance troupe. As the head Choreographer for the troupe, Michael has led the Team in back to back wins at the Hawkeye Swing Festival and a fourth place finish at the Intercollegiate Battle in Colorado! Since their partnership, Michael and Eve have taught classes and workshops for many groups around Iowa. Some of which include: The University of Iowa, ISU, UNI, Drake, Coe, and Step Into Swing. The couple is known around the Midwest for their fast and fancy footwork and their love of Shag dancing. Their style combines Lindy Hop, Boogie Woogie, Shag, Charleston, Hip Hop and everything in between. Michael and Eve love teaching new students and hope to create a fruitful Swing Dance community in Iowa and around the Midwest.

 

 Megan Moore and Kevin Reigeluth   

Megan and Kevin have been dancing partners every since they performed in the musical "Swing" at the Des Moines Playhouse.  Megan's background in dance started when she was 2 years old and continued through high school.  Her cheerleading experience at Drake has been a contributing factor to her aerial accomplishments on the dance floor.  Kevin has been dancing swing for about 4 years now and has become quite an accomplished dancer in his own right.  Together they have attended many workshops and taken several classes on aerials from some of the top dancers in the nation.  They are excellent in communicating the techniques in executing aerials in a safe and proficient manor.  In teaching aerials, safety is their number one concern.
